I would like to recommend the James Joyce Irish pub & restaurant, Astiggos 12, Thiselo-Monastiraki. Great atmosphere, friendly staff & the owner Tom makes you feel very welcome. Great place to meet friends to eat & drink, Guinness, Kilkenny beer & we think the prices are good.
The menu is superb with irish soda bread, steak & guinness pie, sausage & mash, ploughman's lunch, salads & pasta dishes & much more. They also do a wonderful hearty irish breakfast including my favourite white & black pudding which we are going to try next weekend. The website has the menu but it is still "under construction" http://www.jjoyceirishpubathens.com/
It is very easy to get to:- Go to Monastiraki metro station, head towards the Flea market, at the end of the Flea Market turn right, 1st left & it is on your right
Hope you enjoy it as much as we have

Anemomylos Taverna
Anemomylos Taverna

The owner, Takis, is brilliant with the grill. Whether it's lamb or pork, chicken or beef, you're in for a treat when Takis cooks it on the grill or the spit. He has traditional Greek taverna fare and possibly the best fried zucchini in Greece! The taverna is open Wednesday-Friday evenings, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon. I've eaten at Anemomylos many times and enjoyed it every time.
To get to Anemomylos, turn left (coming from the south) or right (coming from the north) between Bed and Bath and the kiosk on Elef. Venizelos in Nea Erythraia. Follow the road down the hill until it dead ends on Heimaras. The taverna is right there at the end of the street.

Hell's Kitchen
I thought I would let you know about a great bar\restaurant I discovered in Athens. It is called Hell's Kitchen, named after this New York neighborhood and it is pretty amazing. The atmosphere is very New York style, with high ceilings, American breakfast, brunch on weekends, free finger food buffet with your drink every day after 9pm, and really good cocktails.
I was there a couple of times, I absolutely loved it and I though I should share my discovery! You can get more details at http://www.hellskitchen.gr/ Kleisthenous 13Kotzia Square Athens210 524 1555
Greetings,
Diana.
